That is the assurance Dr. Anne L. White of the Carolina Laser & Cosmetic Center gives on the company's website. With the endless quest for the fountain of youth, Cosmetic Dermatology products and procedures continue to evolve, thanks to the explosion of technology, the desire to improve on earlier methods, and the effort to cater to the demands of this growing market. Doctors like Anne L. White, MD, of Carolina Laser & Cosmetic Center in Winston-Salem, are at the forefront of new technology and offer their patients the best in innovative care.
"We started out with laser hair removal," said Dr. White, of the Center's first cosmetic treatment. "Then, with its FDA approval and my subsequent training with its pioneer in cosmetic treatments, Dr. Jean Carruthers, I knew I had to bring Botox® cosmetic and fillers like Radiesse®, Restylane® and Perlane® to the Triad. After that, I scrutinized the offerings in the marketplace, listened to and anticipated my patients' needs, and have since developed our vast treatment portfolio into what it is today."
"Some common misconceptions about cosmetic treatments are that they are unaffordable or painful," she smiles. "We have a number of non-invasive, no downtime, low-cost treatments to help you look as young as you feel." One great example of a low-cost treatment for holding back the hands of time is the filler Restylane®. "As we age," states Dr. White, "we lose collagen and elastin in our faces. Our faces move forward and down, becoming rectangular rather than heart shaped. This is called the inverted 'triangle of youth.' This loss of collagen and elastin creates hollowness under the eyes, in the temples, and conversely, jowling where there once was a smooth firm jaw line. We're simply replacing what you lose naturally. Restylane® and Perlane® help return a youthful look to the face by adding volume, and lifting and tightening the skin. This is why the trade often refers to facial correction by the use of fillers as a 'liquid facelift.'"
See if this remarkable procedure is for you with the help of Dr. White's answers to these frequently asked questions:
1. What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is the trademarked name for a line of injectable fillers with non-animal-based hyaluronic acid, and is biodegradable and crystal clear. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body. Restylane® is specifically formulated to act like your body's own hyaluronic acid, so Restylane® simply replaces that volume lost through the aging process. Results are instantaneous and typically last six months or even longer. One great benefit of Restylane® is that effects can be cumulative — only small volumes are sometimes needed for maintenance treatments. And, since it is biocompatible with the human body, Restylane® is eventually broken down naturally. Restylane® was also the first hyaluronic acid filler to be approved by the FDA for cosmetic injection into sub dermal facial tissues.
2. What are common uses for Restylane®?
Common uses for Restylane® are lip enhancement treatments, including the edges of the lips and wrinkles around the lips to stop lipstick from leaking onto the surrounding skin. In addition, Restylane® aids in the correcting of:
• Nasolabial folds (between your nose, mouth and cheek)
• Horizontal (upper forehead) frown lines
• Glabellar (lower forehead) frown lines
• Marionette lines (depressed corners of the mouth)
• Other facial folds and wrinkles
Other uses for Restylane® include: filling of the orbits of the eyes, augmenting cheek bones, chin, or the bridge of the nose, filling acne scars and subcutaneous skin defects, and correcting some irregularities of the nose. It's a wonderfully versatile cosmetic treatment!
3. What does Restylane® treatment feel like?
The needles used for Restylane® are very fine and many patients are pleasantly surprised by the minimal discomfort of the treatment. Very sensitive areas – the lips, for example – are gently anesthetized with a topical anesthetic prior to treatment to improve comfort.
4. Can anyone get a Restylane® treatment?
With a great product like Restylane®, I am able to treat virtually any patient. It is essential, though, that people clearly understand the likely benefits and risks of any treatment, to avoid unrealistic expectations of the outcome. To be sure of this, we will discuss each patient's medical background and cosmetic concerns and goals when she comes in for a consultation. From there, together we will come up with treatment options tailored specifically to the patient.
5. Can a laser face-lift or other surgery be performed after Restylane® treatment?
Yes, though Restylane® treatments can sometimes reduce or eliminate the need for a facelift or other surgery, or can delay the need for repeated surgery. Laser facelifts, like Precision TX, other laser treatments, including laser skin resurfacing, and even the popular Ultherapy® Ultrasound Uplift, can be performed after your Restylane® treatment.
