The new normal requires us to wear masks daily. We are covering up our mouths and noses and some of us are developing a new problem - maskne, or mask related acne. When you breath or talk your mask traps in a lot of hot air creating a warm, humid environment that is ideal for yeast and bacteria to grow. These bacteria imbalances and the friction from wearing masks can cause acne breakouts.
Some ways to prevent this is wearing 100% cotton masks, changing your mask frequently especially after perspiring, and washing masks with fragrance free detergents. Use only lightweight lotion or sunscreen and skip the makeup. If you don’t want to skip the makeup make sure it is lightweight and nonocclusive.
Cleansing your face regularly will also help. Cleanse right before putting on your mask and right after taking it off for the day. For long term prevention of breakouts a consistent acne regimen is important. Dr. Anne White can help you develop a custom tailored routine for the prevention of breakouts and to reduce acne scars. Call today to schedule a consultation for the best treatment options available for you.
Women have always been resilient. Rarely backing down on the things they believe in and appreciate. This was clearly evident several times throughout history. One example that speaks to us at Carolina Laser is the women soldiers, nurses, and those who were at home working to support those overseas. You will be hard pressed to find a photo of one that doesn’t look just as beautiful as ever. They never neglected their looks nor should you in the hard times we are facing now. Things now may not be as turbulent as then but it is definitely a concerting time. We hope that you don’t forget to take of yourself and your looks. It is important for your mental health to feel confident in yourself and we are still here to help you with that. Our staff is committed to keeping a safe and... Read more
I have two young boys which is evidence that I know a lot about pee. They pee everywhere. What I didn’t know is that I would have peeing issues. It happens when I laugh-I pee, I dance- I pee or do yoga- I pee. It’s no fun.
I exercise and do sit-ups but no matter how many kugels I do, it just doesn’t stop me from leaking. I found out that I could have a type of urinary incontinence known as stress incontinence. This is a common complaint among pregnant women, and some find that it continues to bother them after giving birth. It’s caused from all that pressure on your bladder, plus pregnancy hormones that throw your urinary muscles out of whack.
I have a close friend who is a partner at a law firm. She is constantly making presentations to clients. She told me... Read more

Dr. Anne L. White of Carolina Laser and Cosmetic Center (www.CarolinaLaser.com) introduces the all new FDA-approved Restylane® Refyne and Restylane® Defyne dermal fillers to her practice.
Using a new technology, the FDA-approved fillers, Refyne and Defyne produce a more natural outcome by flexing and moving along with the natural fluctuations of the muscles. As part of the Restylane® family of products from Galderma, the same successful hyaluronic acid base formula is used as Restylane® Silk but used primarily for the correction of facial wrinkles and folds. While Refyne treats moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, Defyne is best at correcting the deeper, moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds or "parentheses" around the mouth.... Dear Dr. Anne,
Every morning I wake up, look in the mirror, and pull back the skin on my face wishing it was tighter. I really don't want to have surgery but would love results similiar to a facelift. I've tried creams, had facials and stayed out of the sun but the my skin is still sagging! What would give me the tightening I want without going through an actual surgery?
- Joanne, Greensboro
You are not alone! I hear from so many women who, like you, look at the mirror everyday wishing they could turn back the hands of time. Unfortunately, wishing is not enough! For many, a facelift is not an option due to the cost and the recovery time.
There is a wonderful alternative that is non-invasive,... Read more

You know that feeling you get when you're walking down the street feeling great and looking confident? Maybe you notice a few heads turn in your direction. Everyone deserves that feeling. "People want to look as good on the outside as they feel on the inside," commented Dr. Anne L. White of Carolina Laser and Cosmetic Center.
Dr. White, a pioneer in the field of cosmetics, was the first person in the Winston Salem area to treat patients with injectable fillers following the FDA approval of Botox in 2002. Prior to the FDA approval, Dr. White received her training in Canada under Dr. Jean Carruthers, the first to use Botox in the field of cosmetic dermatology in North America. Since then, Dr. White has... Read more
