Burlingame,
California, Oct. 20, 2002
– Altus Medical, maker of Laser Genesis Skin Therapy, announced
today that the Cool Glide Family of Aesthetic Lasers has been granted
clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the
treatment of wrinkles including, but not limited to, periocular and
perioral wrinkles. This clearance comes only a few short months after
also receiving clearance to market the products for the treatment of
in-grown hair, (pseudofolliculitus barbae, also known as PFB),
treatment of all skin types, including skin type VI and the treatment
of patients with tanned skin.
"We have seen
remarkable results when performing Laser Genesis with the CoolGlide
Vantage laser system," says Bruce Russell, MD and Member of the
American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. "Our patients
have been extremely satisfied with this safe, non-invasive procedure.
In addition to successfully treating wrinkles, patients have noticed
an overall improvement in their skin tone, including a reduction of
pore size, improvement in textural smoothness and a dramatic reduction
in facial redness. Their overall appearance is healthy, young and
vibrant."
Laser Genesis is an
exciting new, painless procedure performed exclusively with the
CoolGlide Vantage from Altus Medical. Utilizing breakthrough
technology, this fast and effective procedure is a non-invasive way to
promote healthy looking skin. This is accomplished by selecting
parameters that combine a gentle warming of the skin while
specifically targeting fine structures in the dermis. The Vantage's
dynamic range of operating parameters and minimally invasive
wavelength allow for the treatment of a broad range of conditions with
high consumer interest, including unwanted leg and facial veins,
removal of unwanted hair and now the treatment of wrinkles.
Kevin Connors, CEO and
President of Altus Medical comments, "The demand for non-invasive
cosmetic procedures continues to increase as both men and women search
for the 'fountain of youth.'" He adds, "Physicians worldwide
are shifting to procedures that attract a higher volume of patients.
our products allows today's practitioner to perform today's most
popular procedures."

plastic surgeons and other practitioners.
