Elizabeth: I've been thinking of getting Botox for the number 11 lines between my brows on my forehead, but my friend told me to consider Dysport instead. Which is better?
Dr. White: Great question, Elizabeth! Both products relax the muscles of facial expression to decrease the appearance of overlying wrinkles. Dysport is a little bit less expensive and lasts a little bit longer, but diffuses or moves more after treatment. That diffusion makes it tricky to use close to the eye, because of the potential of brow droop or lid droop. I use both products and custom-tailor my Botoxing to the individual patient's anatomy.
The most important thing with Botox, Dysport and other wrinkle dermal fillers and injectables is not the product used, but the knowledge and experience of the MD physician who injects the product.
Choose a physician whose practice focus is on outpatient cosmetic procedures and not one who does Botox as a sideline.
