Reverse Visible Signs of Aging This Fall 2017

Dear Dr. Anne,

My friends all rave about Botox® and how great it is for women like myself. I have never had a cosmetic injection or procedure before. I would love for you to tell me a little bit more about Botox®  ... I think it's time I gave it a try.

Heather, Winston-Salem

Dear Heather,

You've come to the right place. I was one of the first physicians in the Winston-Salem area to offer Botox when it was approved by the FDA in 2002 and I was trained by the best - Dr. Jean Carruthers - the doctor who pioneered the use of Botox for cosmetic use. Botox® would likely be my first choice for treating your lines.

Botox can reverse the visible signs of aging while maintaining your natural expression, with real, noticeable results, no surgery and no downtime. The results can be seen in 3-4 days with maximal effect in 2-3 weeks and last three to four months. Those vertical lines that appear between your brows - result from muscle contraction. Lines develop perpendicular to the direction of muscle contraction. After years of frequent contraction, the wrinkles can linger even long after the muscles are at rest.

Used safely in medicine for decades, and in the US since 2002, Botox® Cosmetic works by blocking nerve impulses to gently relax the muscles of facial expression and soften the persistent lines that form between the brows.

You are in luck. This October, we are offering $100 off your next Botox® treatment of 20 units or more!

Let's get started! Call today to schedule a consultation. At the time of your consultation I will customize a treatment plan that's right for you and start you on your way to looking as young on the outside as you feel on the inside.

Dear Dr. Anne,

It's been an extremely busy summer. I've enjoyed so many fun times on the road with my two teenage daughters traveling to softball games, chauffering them to and from activities, as well as keeping up with the construction of our new home. Now that the kids are back in school and we are settled in our new home, it's time for me! I would like to know more about Juvéderm® Ultra XC, Ultra Plus XC and Voluma fillers and injectables my friends all rave about.

Sandra H., Winston-Salem

You know that feeling you get when you're walking down the street feeling great and looking confident? Maybe you notice a few heads turn in your direction.  Everyone deserves that feeling. "People want to look as good on the outside as they feel on the inside," commented Dr. Anne L. White of Carolina Laser and Cosmetic Center.

Dr. White, a pioneer in the field of cosmetics, was the first person in the Winston Salem area to treat patients with injectable fillers following the FDA approval of Botox in 2002. Prior to the FDA approval, Dr. White received her training in Canada under Dr. Jean Carruthers, the first to use Botox in the field of cosmetic dermatology in North America. Since then, Dr. White has... Read more

Dr. Anne White Talks Winter Skin Care 2015

Winter Skin Care

The dry air of winter, both indoor and outside, can make it difficult to keep skin from getting dry, chapped, and itchy. Harsh wind, low humidity, and indoor heating are common factors that sap moisture from the skin. This time of year, it’s especially important to protect your skin, keeping it healthy, moisturized, and youthful. The following tips will help.

Cleansing And Bathing

There is a common misconception that skin needs to be “squeaky clean.” People often spend too much time as well as use irritating soaps while bathing. Skin is healthier when all of the natural oils are not stripped by too aggressive or too frequent bathing regimens. Below are some suggestions to treat your skin kindly while at the same time effectively... Read more

Get Smoother, Tighter, Younger Looking Skin Without Surgery

Sep 2nd, 2014 In: Anti-Aging, Skin Care

Winston-Salem Monthly - September 2014

Dear Dr. Anne,

Every morning I wake up, look in the mirror, and pull back the skin on my face wishing it was tighter. I really don’t want to have surgery but would love results similar to a facelift. I’ve tried creams, had facials, and stayed out of the sun but my skin is still sagging. What would give me the tightening I want without going through actual surgery?

Lori M., Winston-Salem

Dear Lori,

You are not alone! I hear from so many women who, like you, look in the mirror every day wishing they could turn back the hands of time. Unfortunately wishing alone will not work! For many, a facelift is not an option due to the cost and recovery it requires.

There is a wonderful alternative that is non-invasive, safe, and... Read more

How to Get a HEALTHY GLOW this Winter

Jan 30th, 2014 In: Skin Care

Dear Dr. Anne,

My skin looks as gray, flat and dull as my garden does in winter. I need some color! Wearing more blusher makes it worse, and indoor tanning isn't good for me, from what I've been reading. What healthy ways can I give my skin a mid-winter boost?

Danielle, Lewisville

Dear Danielle,

Outstanding job on passing up indoor tanning as a viable cure for the winter blahs! The rise in skin cancer rates happens to coincide with the growth of indoor tanning. People who tan indoors are 74 percent more likely to develop melanoma, 2.5 times more likely to develop squamous cell carcinoma, and 1.5 times more likely to develop basal cell carcinoma than non-tanners. Indoor tanning is not an option that anyone in the medical community would recommend.

There are... Read more
